Description
The Bach Italian Concerto was at first written exclusively for a two-manual harpsichord or “Clavicymbal”. The two-manual instrument was a deliberate choice by Bach. It enabled player and composer to explore new timbral contrasts and dynamic gradations previously unavailable to keyboard players.
This arrangement is orchestrated for a small group of players at a similar or lower level in Concerto Grosso style.
